since the arrest and detention of radio biafra presenter Nnamdi Kalu the agitation for his realised and subsequently creation of the state for indiginous people of biafra have been trending. the battle for the creation of biafra has its origin for back 1967 which actually led to the Nigeria civil war that lasted for 3yrs 1967-1970 and took the life of more 3,000. Since then the struggle has sprang up more factions who champion the cause of biafra from movement for the actualization of the sovereign state of biafra(MASSOB) to the indigenous people of biafra(IPOB).
The recent demonstrations for the purpose of this cause has brought up both good and bad criticism from all over the world, recently the federal government said the agitations of the people are legitimate but i think the approach is very wrong because in a democratic settings the people elect their representatives who will push forward their interest. Nigeria as a country that practise democracy has her elective members from one region and the other to represent their people in various seat in the government, the indiginous people of biafra has such representives, the questions that are still begging are, what have they been able to do in other for biafra to exist, who among them have raise a motion to that cause either in the senate or federal house of assembly? since the people interst is no longer their interest it is high time to face reality. if biafra must be achieved a strong representations must be put in place and anyone seeking elective positions must be a believer of biafra and he or she will be ready at anytime to champion the will of the people no matter what it will take.
it will interest you to know the people protesting were still thesame who will sell out during electionary campaign because of immediate need, the same people protecting actually voted for these representative who represent their interest and the interest of their families and not the interest of their constituency.
four years may look far but is very near, if they can have a strong voice at the federal level biafra will become a reality.
DO YOU AGREE WITH ME?
